Each “Neighbor” can receive this sort of help…
Friendly Visits and Phone Chats
For homebound Neighbors these visits can be invaluable. We will visit for an hour or two each week or make friendly phone calls.
If the Neighbor is mobile, our visits can include a lunch outing or other activities.
Pet Visits
Smiles abound when a certified pet visits a Neighbor.
Medical Transportation
We will drive Neighbors to medical appointments, accompany them inside, and return them safely home after the appointment.
Van Program
Sometimes Neighbors just want to get out of the house to have a little fun. Neighbors sign up for trips that can include concerts, plays, movies, shopping, lunch, SilverSneakers, chair yoga, or a variety of other fun excursions.
We have a fleet of 9 vans, 5 that are wheelchair accessible. Each is in tip-top shape and driven by a trained, courteous volunteer. We collaborate with the greater community by sharing our vehicles.
Mobile Meals
Neighbors can enjoy a hot, delicious and nutritious meal delivered right to their door by a caring volunteer from Foothills Caring Corps. Meals are delivered Monday-Friday at noon time. If desired, we can deliver extra meals for the weekend on Fridays.
(NOTE: There is a minor charge for these meals. In certain instances, meals may be subsidized by additional funding.)
Grocery/Shopping Assistance
We will take Neighbors to the grocery store or any other conveniently located stores to help with shopping, or we'll take their list and shop for them if they can't get out. We assist with carrying bags into the home and help with unloading.
Caregiver Relief
When needed, we visit the homes of Neighbors for a few hours so that their family caregivers can take a break.
Minor Home Repair
Changing light bulbs or smoke detector batteries needn’t be frustrating. If a screen door needs patching or a window needs caulking we are here to help. If big projects need attention, we’ll see what we can do to help.
Business/Computer Help
Some of our Neighbors have trouble with arthritis and/or vision and need help opening mail, reading correspondence, and managing bills. We enjoy helping with these tasks. Volunteers can help Neighbors with their computer to make emailing less frustrating and more fun.
Health Advocacy
We provide essential support to Neighbors who have recently been discharged from a hospital or rehabilitation center.
Mobility Equipment Loans
In our office we have a variety of useful items that can be helpful for a Neighbor who recently suffered a fall or is having surgery. Depending on availability, we lend walkers, wheelchairs, commodes, canes, transfer chairs, crutches, knee scooters and other items. The loan closet is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday by appointment only. To borrow equipment, appointments are from 12:15 pm - 4 pm. To return borrowed equipment, appointments are from 8:30 am - 12 pm. We ask that you come to the back door of Suite 101 to borrow or return equipment. Drive around to the alley in the back of our building and park by Suite 101. Ring the doorbell and someone will come to assist you. Please call 480-488-1105 for information on what equipment is available and to make your appointment.
