Neighborhood Resources
At Foothills Caring Corps, we strive to provide you with comprehensive support and services. Over the years, we’ve learned that there are additional resources you may require. We hope to help connect you with some of those. Below is info about Carefree and Cave Creek becoming “Dementia Friendly,” as well as resources that may be able to provide the specific support or services you need. Please feel free to explore these options if they align with your requirements.
Carefree & Cave Creek are part of Dementia Friendly America
Foothills Caring Corps led the effort to bring Carefree and Cave Creek into the Dementia Friendly America network. The initiative highlights the community’s commitment to fostering safe, respectful, and inclusive environments for individuals and families navigating dementia.
A DEMENTIA FRIENDLY COMMUNITY is one where individuals living with dementia are supported rather than sidelined, and care partners are recognized and resourced. The multi-sector approach includes increasing dementia awareness, reducing stigma, equipping businesses and organizations with practical tools, and expanding supportive programming.
Toward these goals, current efforts include:
- Memory Café: A welcoming space for individuals experiencing memory loss and their caregivers. (3rd Thursdays, 10am Good Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church, 6502 E Cave Creek Rd)
- Music, Memory & Movement: A workshop for cognitive engagement, gentle physical activity, and social connection (2nd Mondays, 10am Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, 9205 E Cave Creek Rd)
- Partnerships: Connections with local businesses and organizations to provide education and practical tools
- Dementia Friendly Action Team: An active community committee, focused on training, outreach, and ongoing resource development
