The Foothills Caring Corps provides a wide variety of services to our neighbors throughout the valley. One of the most popular programs we offer is our Friendly Visit service. In our Friendly Visit program, Caring Corps Volunteers visit our homebound neighbors to share conversation, social interaction and the joys of friendship. The Friendly Visit program equally rewards both Neighbors and Volunteers. The simple act of sharing time with a Neighbor gives a Volunteer a warm and fulfilling sense of satisfaction.   For a Neighbor, a Friendly Visit gives meaning and comfort to their entire day. Age has a way of changing our lives.  Things we could do so easily just a few years ago can become difficult challenges on a daily basis.  But being a friend is something we can do every day of our lives.   All it takes is our will to do it.

A Friendly Visit is brief…usually about an hour…and great things happen in those 60 minutes.   Sharing ideas, emotions and conversation over a cup of coffee or tea can go a long way to make a Neighbor’s day brighter. Caring and sharing are the richest gifts we can offer. And that’s what the Friendly Visit Program is all about.  They’re proof that the best things in life are truly free.
