Foothills Caring Corps celebrated Volunteer Appreciation Week from April 18-22. 2022. Without out incredibly dedicated Volunteers, we would not be able to meet the needs of our Neighbors! Out tagline, "Partnering With People Who Care to Help Neighbors in Need," relays the message that FCC Volunteers truly are the hands and feet of our organization. They are out in the community each and every day, making a difference, through services and smiles.
In December of 2017, Terravita resident Jane Guild learned about Foothills Caring Corps through her neighbors George and Pinky Schmid. She signed up to attend Volunteer Orientation and has been actively volunteering with FCC ever since! Jane's positive, go-getter attitude brings smiles and laughter from the Mobility Loan Closet throughout the FCC offices.
When Jane first began volunteering, she spent time with Neighbors driving them to and from their medical appointments. As time went on, she expanded the scope of her volunteer work to assisting with the Mobility Loan Closet, and can now be found regularly helping with office work and friendly phoning.
"When I do friendly calls, Neighbors are always so appreciative," Jane shared. "Sometimes, I might be the only person that they talk to that day. It's a major interaction for them , and I know it means so much to them to have someone that cares call and chat with them."
Jane is motivated to volunteer because she knows that the needs met by Foothills Caring Corps will always exist. "After I leave the FCC offices from volunteering, I continue to wear my nametag. I'm proud to be a Foothills Caring Corps Volunteer! It sparks conversation wherever I go and I love to tell folks about what FCC does and how they can get involved."
NEW MEMBERS JOIN THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
We are excited to announce the addition of four members to our Board of Directors. These individuals bring skills, knowledge, and experience that adds immense value to the organization, and we are grateful that they have made the commitment to dedicate themselves in furthering the mission of Foothills Caring Corps!
CAREFREE CLASSIC COMES IN CLUTCH
Carefree Classic Wheels & Wings hosted another great show at SkyRanch Airport on April 2, 2022! With more than 25 vintage aircraft and 100+ cars, community members traveled from all over Arizona to share their love for the assortment of classic, vintage, and historical automobiles and airplanes. Foothills Caring Corps vans provided safe and convenient transportation for guests, shuttling them between parking and the event. All donations and net proceeds from the event were donated to Foothills Caring Corps; a grand total of $7,245.00! [Photo courtesy of Rob Mains Photography.]
CHEERS TO 20 YEARS!
In March, Karsten's Ace Hardware celebrated 20 years of excellence in the Carefree community. Did you know that when you shop at the Carefree Ace Hardware you can round up your purchase to the neatest dollar and donate the change to Foothills Caring Corps? As one of Carefree Ace Hardware's charities of choice, FC Staff and Volunteers joined in the festivities and brought fun for everyone! Folks enjoyed tie-dying t-shirts, spinning the wheel of fortune, and learning about opportunities to volunteer as a handyman. Thank you to everyone at Ace Hardware for your continued support!
