Fighting for More Than Just the Heat
As the summer heat intensifies, it's important to remember that our community faces challenges that extend beyond rising temperatures. While many people eagerly embark on vacations to seek relief in cooler climates, we must not overlook the fact that the needs of our Neighbors persist, regardless of the season.
It has been over two years since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and while many of us have gradually resumed our normal lives, there are still individuals in our community who find themselves trapped in a state of isolation. These are our Neighbors who rely on us for transportation, as venturing out of their homes without assistance is simply not an option.
Consider the months of quarantine and isolation you experienced, likely surrounded by the support and companionship of your loved ones. Now, imagine facing that same reality day in and day out for years, often without the comforting presence of family. This is the daily struggle faced by our Neighbors, and it's why our services go far beyond their surface descriptions.
The "Van Transportation", "Non-Emergency Medical Transportation" and "Mobile Meals" programs FCC provides are more than just rides and food delivery services. They act as lifelines, granting our Neighbors the freedom to break free from their homes, fostering a sense of independence and connection to the community. Furthermore, through wellness checks and companionship, our programs offer invaluable support, reminding our Neighbors that they are not alone in their journey.
Our programs are profoundly significant because they create opportunities for our Neighbors to form genuine human connections and foster a sense of belonging within the community. They are a beacon of hope in the lives of those who may otherwise feel forgotten or neglected, reinforcing the notion that they have a strong support system standing firmly behind them.
We invite you to share our cause with your family members, friends, and colleagues, and encourage them to join us in making a difference in the lives of our Neighbors. By spreading the word, we can expand our reach, ensuring that the demands of our community are met throughout any season.

In a world where mobility challenges or cost can hinder our beloved Neighbors from having their own pets, we firmly believe that nobody should be deprived of the sheer joy and comforting presence that canine companions bring. Our Pet Visit services are driven by compassion and dedication to filling the void in the lives of those yearning for the love of a four-legged friend.
At the heart of this service are our remarkable canine Volunteers, who hold a certification from the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. They are the catalyst for uplifting spirits, spreading warmth, generating laughter, and pouring limitless love into the lives of our cherished Neighbors. Whether their visits span just an hour or recur over a decade, these canine and human Volunteers make every moment count with Neighbors through the quality time spent together, engaging in meaningful interactions, and sharing affectionate moments.
I N G R E D I E N T S
5 cups (500g) cubed watermelon
1 cup chopped strawberries
1 TBS lime juice
3/4 (180ml) cup unsweetened apple cider
2 cups (480ml) water
ice cubes
D I R E C T I O N S
Blend watermelon, strawberries, lime juice, apple cider, and water until smooth. Taste to see of the sweetness is to your liking. Feel free to add more watermelon or apple cider if you want a sweeter beverage.
You can serve the drink immediately or refrigerate it for an hour to let the flavors set. If you are refrigerating it, I like to add some cucumber slices and a few sprigs of mint to the Agua Fresca to give it more flavor.
Serve Agua Fresca's with ice and garnish with lime slices, cucumber slices, and mint leaves.
Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days.
