On January 5, 2022, Foothills Caring Corps Staff and Volunteers were surprised by a Channel 5 TV crew and the Rochman family as the recipients of Arizona Family’s “Pay It Forward” award!
“Because we love you guys so much, and are incredibly thankful for all that you have done – and really for my mom and my sanity… We applied to Arizona Family’s Pay It Forward and we are able to give a $500 gift card to Foothills Caring Corps,” Rochman announced.
The Rochman family needed help with transportation to get Stacey’s mother, Reva, to her critical medical appointments. After learning about the programs and services offered through Volunteers at Foothills Caring Corps, they knew they had found the right resource. Reva’s condition necessitates multiple medical trips each week, and she requires use of a handicap-accessible vehicle. Each of her trips involves using a pair of trained Volunteers driving one of FCC’s vans. Over time, an entire group of dedicated Volunteers have become members of “Team Reva” to meet her transportation needs.
“Even during the pandemic, they have been fantastic, of course making sure everyone is safe. It’s nice knowing that people take their own time to help us out… that has been heartwarming,” Stacey Rochman shared.
As an added surprise, the Rochman family matched Arizona Family’s generous gift and donated $500 as well.
The Scott Gaertner Group is starting a mini-series to introduce North Scottsdale residents to Foothills Caring Corps! This video series will take you “behind the scenes” with Volunteers as they show you what it looks like to participate in the programs and services that are provided to Neighbors in the community. A HOLE IN ONE AND A WHOLE LOT OF FUN!
Our 10th Annual Golf Classic was a success! We spent a bright and sunny December day at Mirabel Golf Club with more than 80 golfers who came out to support the Foothills Caring Corps mission. Dedicated Volunteers helped with our 50/50 raffle, hosted on-course games, and provided assistance throughout the day.
Special thanks to event chairperson, Barbara Giovan and the 2021 Golf Committee, photographers Tom and Bonnie Sabaj, and our outstanding presenting sponsor, Kendrick Wealth Management for making this event possible! It is because of your commitment to our cause that we are able to provide the integral programs and services for Neighbors in our community.
JINGLE ALL THE WAY
Foothills Caring Corps shared seasonal good wishes with its 2022 Holiday Joy Convoy. FCC Vans and Volunteers visited 50 Neighbors over a span of 3 days in early December. We delivered festive goodie bags filled with delicious baked treats, candies, popcorn, and gift cards generously donated by Kiwanis Club of Carefree. Volunteers wore holiday costumes or accessories , waved signs, jingled bells, and even sang a few carols along the way! A warm thank you to everyone who helped the holiday season merry from a safe distance.
FROM FINGERPAINT TO COZY TOES
Students from the Desert Sun Academy Preschool class and Cactus Shadows High School’s Pom Team were excited to put together small care packages for Foothills Caring Corps Neighbors! The preschool students fingerpainted fun holiday greeting cards and donated festive fuzzy socks that were gifted to Neighbors who received Mobile Meals during the week of Christmas. We’re grateful for our ongoing partnership with the Cave Creek Unified School District! Neighbors’ hearts were touched by the thoughtful holiday gifts and even sent notes sharing their gratitude.
TRANSITION FROM TASTE OF FOOTHILLS TO VIRTUAL SILENT AUCTION
After months of committee and FCC Staff due diligence, we have pivoted to prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of the community as we continue to face the challenges of the ongoing pandemic. Thus, we have made the decision to host an online, virtual fundraising event this summer from June 13th through June 17th instead of the annually anticipated Taste of Foothills event. You can register for FREE online today! Mark your calendars and keep an eye out for more information.
